How to use Video to GIF
- Choose an MP4 or WebM video.
- Select up to 10 seconds, then choose dimensions and FPS. A smaller size or lower FPS makes a lighter GIF.
- Preview and download your GIF. GIF files have no sound.
What you can do with this tool
- Create a short looping reaction from a video.
- Turn a product motion or screen-recording excerpt into a GIF for a message or presentation.
Settings that make a difference
- Start with a short range. A three-second excerpt usually needs fewer frames than the entire recording.
- Use smaller dimensions and a moderate FPS for a lighter download. High movement and detailed backgrounds can still produce large files.
- The supported output animation is at most 10 seconds after speed changes. Slowing a clip can push it over that limit.
Common questions
Can I convert MP4 to GIF with sound?
No. GIF has no audio track. Use Extract Audio from Video if you also need a separate soundtrack.
Does every MP4 work?
MP4 is a container, not a codec. The bundled engine must be able to decode the streams inside it. Unsupported media receives an input error.
Why does lowering playback speed cause a duration error?
Slowing a clip increases its output duration. Shorten the selected range so the finished animation stays within 10 seconds.
Privacy
The editor writes media to a local worker. No media upload endpoint, analytics or ad scripts are implemented. Automated request checks verify no media uploads on the tested processing paths. Cancel terminates the worker; reset releases preview URLs.
