PRACTICAL MEDIA GUIDE

Make a WhatsApp sticker from a photo or video

Choose the correct static or animated source, crop a 512 × 512 WebP sticker, check its size and understand the separate pack-installation step.

Choose a source that matches the result

A JPG, PNG or other still image produces a static sticker. Use a genuinely animated GIF or video for motion. In this editor, a photo automatically selects Static; changing a dropdown cannot turn a still photo into a meaningful animation. Animated WebP input is not supported by the current decoder.

Keep the subject readable

The editor uses a fixed 512 × 512 canvas. Choose Fit with transparent padding to keep the whole source, or Crop to fill to remove edges. After zooming, adjust the X/Y crop position so a face, word or logo stays inside the square. Padding does not automatically remove the source’s own background.

Check the file budget

The static export budget is 100 KB; the animated budget is 500 KB. Animated output uses the selected FPS. When needed, automatic fitting reduces quality and FPS while retaining the chosen duration and the fixed canvas. If a busy clip still cannot fit, shorten the range or crop to a simpler area.

Download is separate from installation

Preview the exported WebP before downloading it. This website produces an individual sticker file, not an installed WhatsApp pack. Use a compatible pack-building workflow and follow the destination’s current requirements. A valid image file alone is not evidence that a complete sticker pack has been installed.

Troubleshoot a failed export

If the source is a photo, keep Static selected. For video, choose a range inside the clip and keep the output animation within 10 seconds. Try a shorter range when a size budget cannot be met. An unsupported codec or damaged source needs a different input, rather than repeated attempts with the same settings.
