PRACTICAL MEDIA GUIDE
Trim an MP3 for a ringtone without a hard cut
Select a usable audio passage, add fades, choose WAV or MP3 and understand ringtone installation and M4R limitations before downloading.

Open Audio Trimmer →Choose a recognizable passage
Play the recording and pick a section that makes sense on its own. The 15, 20, 30 and 40 second presets are conveniences, not an instruction to extend a short source. The selected End must exist inside the original file. You can also set the range with the selection handles.
Preview the exact selection
Use Play selected range to hear the boundaries, then move Start or End away from an awkward cut. Waveform zoom changes your view of the recording; it does not change the exported speed or duration. Clicking the waveform seeks within that view.
Smooth the boundaries with fades
Try short fades before adding long ones. A fade that is longer than the selected passage is limited to that passage; overlapping fades may make a short clip quiet. Normalization can offset gain adjustments, so turn it off when comparing a direct gain change. Listen to the whole result at a sensible volume.
Choose a real output format
WAV is uncompressed and usually larger. MP3 is smaller but another MP3 encode is lossy. Choose the format your destination accepts. Renaming a WAV or MP3 to .m4r does not create an AAC ringtone. This website does not export AAC M4R or install ringtones automatically.
Install through your phone’s supported workflow
Download and test the audio file first. Android sound-setting workflows vary by device. iPhone ringtone workflows may require GarageBand or a computer and a different format. Keep the original file and follow your device’s current instructions rather than assuming the browser download installs a ringtone.
